Physician Burnout can Affect your Health

Great article about physician burnout. There’s no reason to put up with the overwhelming paperwork, weekends and late nights. It’s not worth it.

Twenty Two years doing general surgery was more than enough for me. I had too many nights when I missed dinner with my kids. There were too many weekends at the hospital, instead of brunch with my family, or even a simple bicycle ride.

Working hard is definitely important. We do something no one else can do. But was the cost, both personally and to my family really appropriate?
